The Rojak Lifestyle

Ramblings of A Married Singaporean Couple

What is our magic FIRE number?

Ta-da! Hmmm... we thought euphoria would ensue. So much for setting targets to motivate you.

Right, so the next question is... how do we get there?

Using Hardware Zone as our guide, it seems the recommended approach is to - (1) Open an Interactive Brokers Account, (2) Buy IWDA ETF, (3) Buy Nikko STI ETF, and (4) Buy NikkoAM SGD IGBond (MBH). Do it every month for the next 30 years, with rebalancing twice a year, based on some formula tied to your age, and you're all set.

Then we thought, better ask the Internet for more ideas. So we googled and came across this guru, AK, who is a pro la. Even though his dividend collection is out of this world, he still advocates topping up CPF gao gao. Sibeh sensible.

After that, even better, we found this expert, Investment Moats. One look at his portfolio and we salute. Think he bought the entire STI liao.

Finally, we saw the results of some Lady who is now free. OMG. Inspirational. Instead of #metoo, have to use #IAlso.

So in the end, how? We also dunno. Information overload from all the success stories above. We shall take some time to ponder. One thing is certain, none of them built their wealth overnight. It took patience and perseverance.

For now, our money shall continue to rot with Citibank, OCBC, and UOB for around 2%.
